A Hero’s Journey

I am on a hero’s journey.

To where? I do not know.

All I do is choose
to show up each day

As a bright light
As a brave heart
As burning hope.

Being in Your presence reminds me of who I truly am.

Being who I truly am is the way to the destination
that only You can fathom, for it is exceedingly greater that I can imagine.

I go out into the world,
trying my best not to get snuffed out by all of its moving parts.
I grow dimmer, tired, more fearful, agitated
and can’t help but feel ashamed.

Your grace is sufficient for me.

You tell me that watching me struggle under the weight of shame breaks Your heart.
You gently invite me to release it.

And I cannot help but choose
to show up day after day

As a bright light
As a brave heart
As burning hope.

Because it is who I am, because it is who You are.

And in doing so, I know that I am progressing
on the path that You have set.
The One that works together for the good of all.

I don’t need to see the map; I trust You.
I trust in this presence that resides in my heart’s center.

It is You, my God. It is Love.
Thank You for making my heart Your home.
Thank You for leading the way.
