Wherever I am
That is my place
I belong and bring goodness and life to the space
I don’t have to ask
For permission to be
I can step up and show up with all that is me
To exit or enter
Each is my choice
I also determine the use of my voice
I don’t have to do
All the things everywhere
Or give away pieces I choose not to share
So when I show up
And if I do not
I will gladly step in or relinquish my spot
I’m learning to own
The decisions I make
Both passive and active with all that’s at stake
Please don’t try to tell me
Just who I should be
Don’t try to bind up what is finally free
It’s mine to keep reaching
It’s what I must do
To enter a place that is honest and true

Julie – I loved every word of this. I can tell that you put your heart and passionate soul into it. I wanted to point out a favorite line or two but I loved them all!! I guess if I HAD to choose one it would be the last one – to “enter a place that is honest and true.” Your writings and your poems ring very honest and true to me. Thank you for writing.
Thank you, Barbara. Living in honesty and truth is something I deeply desire and am still learning to do. The process of stepping into truth has been a holy terror, including this risking of sharing what came to me while pondering, “What is my place?” I am glad my words met you. I am grateful for your kind encouragement and support.
The boldness and self-understanding of this poem make me happy. You be your own amazing self, my friend. <3
Thank you for being with me on the journey. Your friendship is a sweet gift. Love you much.
