My Tuesdays now include watching…I mean playing with, laughing, teaching, listening to…my 4 year old granddaughter Isabelle. She is a very smart, observant 4 yr old.
Recently, I let her play a game on my iPad. She was sitting at the kitchen table playing when my case/stand that was supposed to be propping up the iPad for her kept falling.
She let me know several times it was falling then declared, “Nana, you need to buy a new case. This one just isn’t working for me!” To which I responded, while trying to stifle my giggles, that I had already ordered one and it was on its way.
As I pondered (and giggled) about what she said I thought, you know, she’s right! How many times do I think nope, this just isn’t working for me.
There are things in my life right now where “this just isn’t working for me.” I find my heart feeling a wide range of things…anger, sadness, loss, grief, fear.
I read a devotion by Sarah Young “Jesus Calling”. She wrote, “My Peace is the treasure of treasures: the pearl of great price. It is an exquisitely costly gift, both for the Giver and the receiver. I purchased this Peace for you with My blood. You receive this gift by trusting Me in the midst of life’s storms.”

These are the things I want to hold in my heart when “this just isn’t working for me” is shouting in my mind.
I look forward to the next lesson I will learn from Isabelle and what lies ahead on this journey with my three sons (and grandkids).

Deanna, A smile comes over my face as I think of the legacy you are creating through your grandchildren. I’m sad as I hear that there are places where “life isn’t working for you right now”.
