It was youth Sunday at my oldest son’s church and there sitting at the drum set is Joe! He didn’t grow up playing the drums. He started as an adult. As a matter of fact, he started in band playing the clarinet and switched to tuba his second year. I had never heard him drum before…he has great rhythm!
Then it was time for him to preach. I sat in wonder as I listened to “my boy” speak so articulately and engaging everyone in the room.
I was thinking how strange and wonderful it was to flip from being his teacher as he was growing up, to him becoming mine! Our adult children have so much to teach us as they grow into their gifting and who they are.
I look forward to the things I can learn from and what lies ahead on this journey with my three sons.
