Chapters

Before time, before my father met my mother, God knew me,
And knew the story to be.
He wrote pages I had not yet seen, ones that would change everything.

Before, everywhere I ran into gates that they made for me.
So I put up my own to keep what was left of me.
“Keep out!” There’s not much in here anyway, but what is,
Please just let it be.
Mourn the pieces that were left as if saying goodbye to what was never had.

But then years prevailed and time said I was free,
So I looked to find what was left of me.

Before time, before my father met my mother, God knew me,
And knew the story to be.
He wrote pages I had not yet seen, ones that would change everything.

He showed me LOVE!
He showed me He saw everything and was turning the pages to bring,
Every lost piece back to its home, in only the way He can do.
He said “I wrote this next part, ‘Chapter Called New’ ”

The chapter before man wrote on me.
Spilling the ink until the pages bled.
Bending the spine until it showed threads.
Tearing out a page before it was read.

BUT GOD took hold of that book,
Said “Man, this no longer belongs to you.
I’ve claimed it, I’ve renamed it, its mine forever!”
And every last thread was sewn around with gold.
And every dark page was white as snow.
And every last tear was built back strong.
And He carries that book safety under His arm.

He reads it to me, and I can’t believe, the story that’s there is good to me.
It sends tears to rest upon my lips that can’t help but smile at the sound of it.
It’s real, this is me, it’s all in here,
Rewritten where sorrow takes the final cheers,
And suffering erupts in celebration of Him,
The Story Maker, The Craftsman Redeemer, The Lover of my Soul.

Now hear this read,
“The best I have you, I wrote this next part ‘Chapter called New.”
