I let my father name me
He didn’t have the rite
He didn’t know the truth
All he knew was fright
My needs were a painful reminder
Of all he didn’t do
to shame them, and bury them underground
was all that he knew
I believed him
& sunk down with my dreams
Like mercury…descending to the depths of the sea
I had a hope…
A hint of truth…
But the burden wouldn’t let me be free
For years I held the weight of death
The curse, “you are too much!”
I shrunk and hid
Shriveled and died
A slow and painful death
But on my Father’s death bed
He spoke again a name for me to bear
He said, “You are delightful!” as he smiled and looked at me
With that truth, I ran
Renamed
Anointed
Given Life
From the throws of hell
The truest truth
Hangs in the air
Fragrance of Love and Life
The curse is broken
I am free to SOAR
Though the burden nips at my heals, I arise
Sin entangles
Fear bears down
Confusion reaches for my soul
War ensues
Tortured & bound
Caught between what is known and not
I cling to HOPE
Pray for peace
Invite the power of God
Emerging slowly from the fog
Inching ever slowly to life and joy
In between place where change takes place
Held in God’s chrysalis
Allowing transformation
Patiently awaiting
Perfect plan unfolding
Finally free to fly
Delight!

Oh beautiful Jean…
This is articulated so clearly. You were bound to lies for so many years and watching you emerge like a butterfly from its cocoon is breathtaking. The process you called God’s chrysalis is exactly where He meets you, molds you, loves you…and allows you to bless others with your story.
Your writing is unlike any other. I love how you continue to fight for truth in the midst of confusion. You cling to hope, slowly emerge from the fog, and inch towards life and hope…gosh, how well said!!
You touched my heart deeply ~ thank you for encouraging ME dear friend and putting words to what I needed this day. Love your heart…and love you! May you continue to “live in the fragrance of love and life!…and SOAR!!” 💕

What a stunning poem of heartache and hope. Your words draw me in to my own story of pain, grief and ultimate redemption. Thank you for being brave enough to share your heart and a small piece of your hard but glorious journey!!
Amazing it is….the power of the spoken word… Yes? The chains that can be broken, the cloud that is lifted, the tapes that get destroyed as a result of the spoken word… ‘You are Delightful!’ May we all learn from your daddy that our words can heal, mend, and restore the hearts of those we treasure.
Thanks for sharing your inspirational poem of pain, love and words…
Jean- I can hear the deeps and healing of your heart! What a gift for you to be able to put so beautifully into words a piece of your story so courageously told!
Jean…you are a beacon of hope, love and beautiful light. You truly are delightful.
Jean,
Your beauty pours out in words. Thank you for sharing your heart.
Amazing how 3 simple words can bring such healing. Your story is a true testament to the phrase “After the rain comes the rainbow”
Jean, your words so profound and yet reaches the heart of anyone willing to see truth. I can introject my names and a few words from my experience and this would be my journey too! Thanks for the courage to share with the world so many can know their life and journey.
His delight in us is the hope we can cling to, thank you for sharing. Your words are beautiful!
Jean,
Your words of “emerging,” “arising,” and “unfolding” so sweetly depict our journey to become more like Jesus, the name above all names. Thank you for reminding me that HE gives us the name we will carry into eternity. And thank you for poetically illuminating what our souls truly long for…to be called out of hiding so we may be known and may be rightly named!
